  • 33. Rogue (Polynesian Delegation) – Racial Draft Season 2

Rogue’s new backstory — as per Tamati — is as follows:

Ara Marie was born into a large Maori family. She was the youngest of 15. Under the ‘Vulnerable Children’s Act’ she was uplifted from her family. She later found that the reason for her uplift was because she was ‘white passing’ and it was deemed that she would be a better ‘fit’ in a white family.

She never returned to her birth family and was disconnected from her culture.

Her powers to absorb memories, abilities and powers manifested in her teen years. She would use her powers to connect with other Maori. With a touch she would get a glimpse into what her life could’ve been. She found that this made her resentful and deepened her disconnection.

Ara was aware that her white passing enabled her to avoid racism, levelled at Maori and POC around her. She never felt enough to stand up for her own.

The first time she encountered a mutant (his power was pyrokinesis) she held on for too long and knocked him unconscious. This frightened her.

On a field trip to the west coast of her island, she had a chance encounter. She greeted someone and immediately felt power surge through her, she also got flashes of a Maori goddess who flew on the winds. She had met a tribal member of the Urukehu. The woman she had seen was Te Uira/ Storm.

Ara would eventually find Storm, who would bring her into her tribe, help her control and understand the potential of her power. Importantly she would connect with her identity. Storm would tell her, “you must always remember that you are Māori and your ancestors are with you. You will always be ‘enough.’”

Ara would fight alongside Storm and encounter mutants, super-powered people, gods and other sentient beings. She was now anchored to her ancestors, people and identity. No matter what or who she absorbed she had found her purpose.

    Ara Marie- ROGUE”

They have also provided a fancast — Māori actress Raukura Turei.

  • 32. Red Hood (Latinx Delegation) – Racial Draft Season 2

Jason Todd’s new backstory — as per Martin Sanchez — is as follows:

Jason Torres had a hard time growing up. His parents, Catrina and Wilfredo, would argue all the time, his mother suffered from depression and drug addiction, and his criminal father would always teach him about thieving and conning, whether he wanted to learn or not. His dad was a bit of a pessimist, and after being turned away from employment opportunities from countless businesses, he started believing, “If that’s how they see us, we might as well give them what they want.” He hammered that idea into Jason’s impressionable mind.

Eventually, Jason’s dad would wind up in prison, where he was promptly killed, and his mom would die soon after. Jason was by himself, but not for long. After one fateful night where he tried his luck and steal the tires off the Batmobile, he encountered Batman.

Instead of being mad, Batman had another thought. Much like with his previous Robin, Dick, Bruno knew that without proper guidance, the anger he saw in Jason might land him in a lot more trouble. He decided to take Jason under his wing, and the young Latino would go on to become the new Robin, but his aggression was always present.

His time as Robin only lasted a few years, before his life was cut short by the deranged Clown Prince of Crime, the Joker. The criminal lured him into a trap by revealing he was the one responsible for what happened to Jason’s parents. Batman could do nothing to stop Jason, and couldn’t save him. But this was not the end of Jason’s story. After nearly a year, he was resurrected by Talia al Ghul, who’s been paying special attention to Batman and those closest to him. Talia put him into the Lazarus Pit and she became almost like a surrogate mother for him. She took him to get training from a group of warrior monks known as the All-Caste, who encouraged him to let go of his rage.

After his years of training, he did consider doing that, but then he heard that the Joker is still wreaking havoc in Gotham, despite all that he has done. Jason decided that the only way for him to let go of his rage is by taking it out on the criminal filth that has ruined his hometown, especially if it’s the Joker. He donned the moniker Red Hood, headed back home, and started delivering his own brand of gun-toting justice. When Jason came face-to-face with his adoptive dad, Batman disapproved of his use of firearms. This would lead to a bit of animosity between the two. Eventually, Bruno decided that Jason is still his son, so he can rejoin the Bat Family, even if he doesn’t always agree with his actions.

  • 30. Joker (White Delegation) – Racial Draft Season 2

Joker’s new backstory — as per Shaun Martineau — is as follows:

Heh, have you heard the joke about the rodent who flies in the night? It cloaks itself in darkness, obscuring the little details that change between iterations. The joke is the Bat isn’t blind, it blinds others. And no-one can see it, no-one but him.

So many take up the Bat’s cause, changing themselves as well. Birds and Rodents and Felines, creating a nest of reflected familiarity to comfort. Even his own Harles…

But they will all fall away, one by one, until only the Bat remains. Just The Bat and The Clown, as it was always meant to be. Ha Ha.

Perhaps he was once a Gothamite. Or perhaps he was an outsider trying to make something out of a cruel city. Did he fall into a vat of chemicals or did his scars come from an abusive father figure? The only certainty is that he stands in stark contrast to the Bat. A White Knight, snickering against the thing that goes Bump Bam Wham KaPow in the night. Hehehe.

After an absence, he has returned to a Gotham City he no longer recognizes. He doesn’t find this new Gotham quite as funny anymore. And that simply won’t stand. He promises to Make the City Funny Again, his southern drawl fading into laughter that echoes in the streets he will paint White, until all is right. YEE HAW HA HA HA HA.

  • 25. Miles Morales – Spider-Man (White Delegation) – Racial Draft Season 2

Miles Morales’ new backstory — as per Shaun Martineau — is as follows:

Miles Morales was born into a powerful yet loving family; his mother Ria Morales was a prominent politician who came from old Italian money, his father Jefferson was a Police Captain. Their stories entwined long before Miles was born, with Jefferson becoming corrupted by Ria’s family and influence. He now functions as her eyes and ears in the force, protecting her investments from within a corrupt institution.

Miles saw only the best in his parents. A mother who lifted her community (but only the right members of it) and a father who protected it. As he grew older, he became more critical of the systems of law they worked in. This criticism was fostered by his uncle Aaron, who was pushed out of the family when he tried to open Miles’ eyes to who his parents really were.

After discovering his powers, and bolstered by his father’s agitated reports of figures like the Prowler, Miles decided to take up the mantle of Spider-Man to uplift and protect his community, like his parents before him. He keeps this secret close to his chest, afraid of his father’s disdain for superheroes and his mother’s own anti-vigilante political stances. Will Miles be able to pull his parents towards the light or will he be corrupted alongside them?

The White Delegation has also provided a fancast. The fancast for Miles Morales is David Henrie (Wizards of Waverly Place).

  • 24. Deathlok (Native American Delegation) – Racial Draft Season 2

This non-canon backstory for (Native American) Deathlok — as per Joaquin — is as follows:

Timothy StandsAgainst, after transferring his mind into a new body, flies away in the form of The Vision, only to leave behind a body which still has his soul and continues to live. After arising out of the operation table, he wanders with no recollection as to who he is.

S.H.I.E.L.D. finds the Mind Stone in Tim’s makeshift laboratory. After sweeping the area, they leave, but find a man that resembles Dr. Timothy StandsAgainst wandering the road. The organization puts him through a battery of tests, only to find that his mind is dead, but he still lives.

They experiment on him, apply robotics and cybernetic weaponry on him, and inject his body with self healing chemicals — toxic to a normal human, but he can’t die. He becomes a General amongst the Deathlok regiment. But considering the body of Timothy has a soul, it must find its mind to be one. For he knows he will be nothing but a mindless zombie, continuously following orders.

  • 23. Catwoman (Latinx Delegation) – Racial Draft Season 2

Catwoman’s new backstory — as per Martin Sanchez — is as follows:

Selina Calderon is the older daughter of Benjamín and Maria Calderon, and the older sister of Magdalena “Maggie” Calderon. Following the death of their parents, Selina knew that Cuba was not a good place for her and her baby sister, so she manages to blend herself and Maggie with another family as they come to America during the Mariel boatlift, the mass immigration of Cubans to the United States that took place from April 1980-October 1980. Now officially Cuban refugees in America, Selina thought that Miami was not the safest place either, following the riots that took place in May of 1980. So, she takes her sister and heads north, relying on pickpocketing and shoplifting to provide for her sister.

After a few years, the sisters arrive in Gotham, and if it wasn’t for Maggie insisting that they stay put for a while, Selina would have taken her sister out of that place as soon as they got there. It’s not long before the two come to grow fond of Gotham, however, and despite its many issues, they decide to stay. After hearing about a thing called a “GED,” Selina starts educating herself and Maggie so that they wouldn’t have to go to school and have people find out they are growing up on the streets of Gotham. The responsibility of providing still falls squarely on her shoulders.

Years go by, and Selina has upgraded from purely pickpocketing to burglary as well. Burglary proves to be highly lucrative for Selina, and quite easy for her as it would seem. A few more years go by, and now, officially an adult, Selina becomes her sister’s legal guardian. Over the years of money management, she is able to rent a small apartment. Selina continues to steal to support herself, her sister, and her sister’s education, along with the fact that she kind of enjoys thieving. One night, she encounters a young man in a makeshift costume, who tries to stop her. He does not succeed.

Around the time that the young man would become Batman, Selina coincidentally has the idea to become the costumed thief Catwoman. After multiple encounters with Batman and after Bruce and Selina discover each other’s secret identities, the two grow incredibly close, embarking on an on-again, off-again relationship. This relationship with the vigilante does not completely stop Selina from the occasional theft here and there, though.

The Latinx Delegation has also provided a fancast. The fancast for Selina Calderon is Eva Mendes.

  • 22. Iron Man (Polynesian Delegation) – Racial Draft Season 2

Iron Man’s new backstory — as per Tamati — is as follows:

“We are ocean people….we are all comrades ….everyone now who is native, is fighting back and it’s an insurgency….The whole ocean area needs to be liberated!”

    – Haunani Kay Trask

Tony Stark is a descendant of industrialist Jansen Stark, who funded the overthrow of the Hawaiian Monarchy in 1893.

Jansen Stark married a Hawaiian ali’i by the name of Maluhia Kalakaua. This makes Tony Kanaka Maoli (true/native people of Hawai’i).

Over five generations the Stark family built their wealth on land investments (owning much of Hawai’i), science and military tech for the US. They are one of the richest families in the world.

Tony Stark, a genius, inherited the family business. He seeded the most advanced military tech all over the world.

His life changed when the testing of new military weapons on the island of Kaho’olawe went disastrously.

Tony was caught in the blast which knocked him into a coma, a piece of shrapnel lodged in his heart.

During his coma his ancestor Maluhia visited him and told him to take the path of ‘ea’ (independence) and ‘kuleana’ (responsibility) to his people.

When he awoke, he had changed. He developed tech to keep the shrapnel from his heart. He returned the lands on Hawai’i back to Kanaka. Provided health, education and employment. This eased the crippling homelessness problems for Kanaka in the Kingdom.

He developed the ‘Kanaka Homecoming’ fund. This was to reach out to the Hawaiian diaspora, to provide homes and support to come back to Hawai’i.

Outside of Hawai’i, he used his resources and tech to protect and unite the people of Polynesia.

His greatest tech masterpiece was the creation of the ‘Iron Man’ suit. Developed to defend, protect and keep the peace.

He wanted to build a team to protect and prevent future threats.

He monitored super powered people in Aotearoa fighting and beating giants. These were potential allies.

He set on his new path, to defend and protect the world.

    Tony ‘Maluhia/Peace’ Stark- Iron Man.

The Polynesian Delegation has also provided a fancast. The fancast for Tony Stark is MMA fighter Kendall Grove.
