  • 16. Krakoa (Black Delegation) – Racial Draft Season 2

Krakoa’s new “blackstory” — as per Randy Smith — is as follows:

A few short millennia after the world’s one land became many, a man dwelled in a place that would eventually be called Africa.

To his people, he was only Kwame, yet his status was far more. They knew some born with power were dangerous and frightening, but Kwame connected with earth, coaxed forth its bounty. He was only ever a divine gift. For a time.

No one knew what happened, what the gods desired, that made Kwame change. All they knew, the earth quaked in anger; if there was any saving to be done, Kwame would do it. Not by force of will or entreating the gods. After much giving, it seemed the gods now demanded a return.

On a favorable day, Kwame looked back to his people, then over the edge of the coastal cliff where he stood. Without fear, he leaned forth, and fell.

Plunging into the harsh ocean depths, any other could expect death at any moment. Yet, what Kwame thought was his end was just a new start. Rather than bearing him down to death, the waters carried him aloft for weeks, nourished him with salt and sediment. No need to eat, sleep or even breathe.

By the time he landed on an island, located where people would eventually call the Pacific Ocean, his whole being changed. His body was heavy with earth that accumulated from the ocean, but his mind was light. So much nature took its place in his mind, his past was but a spark of memory, a waking dream in a mind that now so desperately craved slumber.

Yet when he woke, it may as well have been for the first time. He peered out, surrounded by unfamiliar faces with unfamiliar skin. His former self would have panicked that they seemed so small before him or that he could not move, but this new self wondered. This word they chanted, Krakatau, Krakatau!

Were they speaking to…him? It had a nice ring to it, that word; perhaps he could try it out himself. The earthen mountainside now comprising his face creaked, cracked, split open, and with a gravelly growl, he attempted it, “Kra…Krakoa?”

  • 15. Storm (Polynesian Delegation) – Racial Draft Season 2

Storm’s new backstory — as per Tamati — is as follows:

    TE UIRA/STORM:

“Hikohiko te Uira, haruru te whaititiri”

“The flash of lightning, the rumbling of thunder”

The Urukehu are descendants of an ancestor ‘Urukehu’. Traditions say she was the first to be given the power to control the weather. This power was given to her by the god Tawhirimatea.

It’s told that a descendant would come who would channel and control the full powers of Tawhirimatea himself.

Over many millennia the Urukehu remained hidden, choosing to stay away from conflict. Even as colonisation ravaged people around them.

Te Uira from birth demonstrated abilities far surpassing others of her tribe. Her moods dictated the weather. She honed her skills to enable her to channel lightning, winds and rain. Her control was such that she could fly with the winds.

With encouragement, she traveled the world. Te Uira used her powers where she could to break droughts and avert climate disasters. She even encountered and nourished a sentient living island.

She returned home with a newfound purpose, to use her powers to protect people.

This culminated in her battling alongside the god Thor against invading giants. During the battle she wielded Mjolnir. She connected with the hammer, because like her, it channeled and controlled the power of a god.

Thor said in Asgard she would be a Goddess. Te Uira said her place was here in this world. If needed she would support Thor and others who served to protect.

Footage of the battle surfaced across various platforms on social media. It was here that Te Uira would be given a new name…Storm. A name she would adopt for future adventures.

  • 14. Harley Quinn (Latinx Delegation) – Racial Draft Season 2

Harley Quinn’s new backstory — as per Martin and Carlos — is as follows:

Harleen Francia Quinzel was born to Nicolas Quinzel, the descendant of Jewish immigrants who fled to Mexico to escape the Nazis, and Susana Quinzel (née Reyna), a young woman who grew up with “Nick” in Jiquilpan. When they discovered Susana was pregnant with their first child, a daughter, they decided they owed it to her to give her a chance at a better life. They came to the United States in search of opportunity. What they found was Gotham.

Harleen was the oldest of their 4 children, and their only daughter, Susana, quickly found work housekeeping at the Falcone Hotel and Casino. Nick had a harder time finding gainful employment. With the bills piling up and mouths to feed, Nick found himself in the employ of the Falcone family’s less legitimate enterprises. Harleen had her own job, though unpaid, taking care of her brothers. Even so, Harleen excelled in school and found herself college bound on a Diaz scholarship to Gotham State University. Harleen was living the better life her parents had sought for her.

But as happens all too often, Gotham giveth, and Gotham taketh away.

Nick was arrested in a college basketball point shaving scandal at Gotham State. As a result, Harleen was barred from competing in gymnastics at GSU. Nick was murdered in prison when rumors arose that he might have turned state’s evidence against the Falcone family. Susana and Harleen’s three brothers were deported back to Mexico, but as a Diaz scholar, and because of the strings her benefactors at the Diaz Foundation were able to pull, Harleen was allowed to stay.

Harleen made good, excelling at school and becoming a psychiatrist. Perhaps it was because of her father’s line of work and the ultimate cause of his death, but Harleen found herself drawn to the criminal mind. When the opportunity arose, and even though it didn’t pay as well as opportunities in Metropolis or Central City, Harleen jumped at the chance to work at Arkham. It was there that she met someone who would change her life forever, a John Doe sociopath with a violent streak and a flair for the dramatic. With his refusal to divulge his real name and her refusal to indulge him by calling him by the moniker for which he was infamous, a compromise was met at the title of “Mr. J.”

Sociopaths are adept at 2 things: mimicking emotion and identifying and exploiting the weaknesses of other people. Harleen, alone in the world and more vulnerable than she realized, fell for Mr. J hook, line, and sinker. To her, they were a modern-day Bonnie & Clyde. To him, she was a ticket out of Arkham.

After making their way to Ace Chemicals, evading both Gotham PD and the Batman, Joker threw Harleen into a vat of chemicals in an attempted murder. What crawled out of the toxic stew was Harley Quinn — part murderous psychopath, part promising psychiatrist, part anti-hero here to seek revenge on the underworld who took her family from her.

You do not want to get on her bad side. She may be a petite blonde with porcelain skin, but never, ever tell her she doesn’t look Mexican. You won’t like the results.

The Latinx delegation has also provided a fancast. Sara Paxton. Because who better to play a fair skin, blonde, Mexican-American woman with Jewish ancestry than a fair skin, blonde, Mexican-American woman with Jewish ancestry.

  • 7. Cyborg (White Delegation) – Racial Draft Season 2

(White) Cyborg’s new backstory — as per Shaun Martineau — is as follows:

Liviticus Stone was named after The Holy Book Of Law but not spelt like it. His parents weren’t around much, consumed with their work. They pushed him hard in school, which pushed him on to the field for an escape.

Growing up, he loved football, but he wasn’t much good at it. His parents became concerned about him wasting his potential in a field he wouldn’t excel in, so they pushed him to a local Church. He became a youth minister, running a Friday Youth Group for kids not much younger than himself. He began to fall for his fellow youth minister, Marcy. He found natural leadership skills there, which he carried onto the field with him. Still not very good at the game, somehow Liviticus charmed his way into becoming QB.

One night his parents came out in support of their son, and they were attacked by creatures from another planet. The incident killed Liviticus’ Mother, and left Liviticus’ body broken and his spirit fading. His father saved his life, fusing him to a Mother-Box that spoke to him in his mother’s voice.

The accident and his enhancement pushed Liviticus away from his Father. He was bullied at school, and so he hacked into their technology, where he could beat them at every game they tried to play. Liviticus felt himself slipping away, as he gave more and more of himself away to the technology and the anger. His Mother was there with him.

His Father, not knowing what else to do, reached out to Marcy. She in turn reached out to Liviticus and he came back changed. He was Vic Stone now, and Marcy fostered a human connection with Vic, pulling him away from the technology that was consuming his life, and towards the Church of Blood…

  • 4. Thor (Polynesian Delegation) – Racial Draft Season 2

(Polynesian) Thor’s new backstory — as per Tamati — is as follows:

“Whakataka te hau ki te uru, whakataka te hau ki te tonga. Kia mākinakina ki uta, Kia mātaratara ki tai.”

“Get ready for the westerly to turn into a southerly. Making it prickly cold inland, and piercingly cold on the shore.”

The battle in Jotunheim with the Frost Giants raged on. Thor, battle weary, continued to fight, with the singular purpose of stopping them from conquering other realms.

Suddenly they retreated. A giant portal opened and they all vanished inside. Thor was left alone on a scorched battlefield.

With the help of Heimdall he tracked them to Midgard (Earth). They had landed on the west coast of one of the northern islands of Aotearoa/New Zealand.

They were battling with people in the shadow of the mountain Taranaki.

Thor…paused. He noticed these people were fighting the Frost Giants using thunder and lightning!

He would later find that these people were the Urukehu, the descendants of the Māori god of thunder, lightning and wind, Tawhirimatea.

Thor joined the battle. At one point Mjolnir was knocked from his grasp. The leader of the tribe, a woman by the name of Te Uira, picked up the hammer, channeled the full power of her people, and fired a devastating lightning bolt that decimated the giants.

With the battle ended, Thor vowed to always stay connected to this tribe. Te Uira said if Thor ever needed help, the Urukehu would be there.

Thor was given the title ‘Te Whaititiri’. The personification of ‘Thunder’!!!

    Thor/Te Whaititiri.
